weekend recap

Who doesn't love having a 3-day weekend?  Going to work on Tuesday, thinking it's Monday, remembering you had that extra day off and then rejoicing that it's indeed Tuesday and you only have a 4 day workweek! WHY can't this be every week?

This weekend left me exhausted and in bed ready to pass out by 8:30 last night but who cares? It was wonderful getting that much sleep!

Saturday we celebrated my Grandpa's 80th Birthday!  It was a wonderful day filled with family and long-time friends of his and seeing his face light up every time someone walked in the door was so heartwarming.  The party wasn't exactly a surprise for him, but he didn't know who was coming which kept him on his toes.

Before heading back to Columbia that evening we went to the Fayette Music Boosters Chili Supper and Carnival.  This is one of the biggest fundraisers the Boosters do and being there brought back plenty of memories for me: selling tickets for the dinner and working the carnival were yearly tasks being in the band.  Oh, and for those of you who are going to poke fun about me being a "band nerd", just know that it was COOL to be in the band in my school - over half of the population was in band! So the community is extremely supportive of the band and their activities, which I think is amazing and makes me want to become more active about supporting such a wonderful activity that created so many wonderful outlets for me.

enjoying some chili and dessert (ok, mostly dessert!)

If you ask your younger cousins to take pictures of you, don't expect to get a photo without fingers in it.

My cousin Annaliese is in the high school band (French Horn player as well, woot woot!) and we stopped by her carnival game station but decided not to play her game - it would have been impossible to win! (aren't all carnival games, though?!)

Russ playing the milk bottle game

After stuffing our faces and playing a game we headed back to Columbia where we met up with our friends to watch the Blues Hockey game.  Russ is overly ecstatic with how the Blues look this year - Stanley Cup here we come!

Sunday I went to my Mom's house and enjoyed more family time and I of course took Miley along so she could pretend to be a country dog.
car rides are her favorite. Even more so when we open the windows so she can stick her head out, but it was freezing outside. No way I was doing that.

Monday we spent time running errands and met up with my Mom to do some antique shopping.  Unfortunately we didn't find many things we couldn't live without, but I did find some exercise equipment that could be used with all the new years resolutions out there...

no, we didn't get them. I did find them plenty entertaining, though!

And when we got home we found a pretty sick Miley which lead to some cleaning up which was not fun.  Poor thing was not feeling one of the dog bones she enjoyed on Saturday morning.  Needless to say we will not be giving her any more of those types of dog bones in the future.

wanting to come back inside after we had to put her out yesterday in order to clean up the house.

Aw, her face looks so sad too!!! Cleaning anything that comes out of a dog (especially Miley's size) is no fun :( Boo!!
Hope she's feeling better.
Sounds like you had a great long weekend! I like those weights... I think you should have picked them up!

Awww the band fundraiser looks like a lot of fun and all the photos from it are funny. Band was pretty popular at my high school too. :)

So jealous you had a 3 day weekend and I hope poor Miley is feeling better.

Poor Miley!! :(

3 day weekends are probably the best. Besides 4 day weekends. And you definitely took advantage of yours. So much fun :)

The band and theater kids were the cool kids in my high school! We were not very good at sports lol.
