Texas Day 3 - Part 2

Once we returned from our adventures in San Antonio, Nicole and my Dad set to work on something Nicole designed a few months ago - a cat castle.  I must admit that at first I thought she had gone completely crazy (ok, I still kinda do) but once I actually met her cats, I realized it really is the best gifts she can give them - another piece of furniture to climb and jump on and off of.

Thankfully, we had an absolutely beautiful day (the warmest out of the days we were visiting!) so they set up shop outside and went to work while PJ, Russ and I observed and soaked up the sun.

Pretty sure Raid used up all her energy that afternoon playing ball - we played for hours!

The builders assessing the details, brainstorming and figuring out their next move

First phase of the project complete and inside!

Once they completed the bottom portion of the project (which you see above) my sister then told my us about her second and third (I know) tiers of the castle.  Well, my Dad wasn't going to leave Texas without helping her reach her goal as much as possible so they took the project back outside and got to work on the second level - a place for the cats to eat their food!  This actually was a brilliant idea since they were currently eating/drinking in the kitchen.  I also feel like I should say that while they went to work for the second time, the rest of us took a nap.  The two of them must have been running off some amazing energy fuel that I don't have.

After the second round of the project!

I think it's safe to say they like it!

Poor Raid, all tuckered out after a fun, long day of playing.  She was so sweet when she was sleeping!

That evening we had some amazingly-delicious and drool-worthy steaks and packed up our suitcases.  Oh, and we also realized we failed at taking any family pictures together so we took some of those - with our pajamas on.  The next morning we left the house before the sun was out so we could get back to Missouri at a decent hour since we all three had to work on Monday.

Nicole and PJ - thank you SO much for such an amazing, fun, and lovely time!  You two were wonderful hosts and I'm already working on figuring out when I can take another trip down to see you and the Zoo!  Maybe in the Fall?  Sorry, but there is no way I could handle Texas in the summer - Missouri heat is enough for me!  Plus, I need the extra time to get my "tennis skills" up.  HA!  Please come visit MO soon - I already miss you!
