What a whirl-wind of a weekend! August is turning out to be quite the month for fun weekends and I'm trying my hardest to soak it up - which results in me not taking many photos, but I'm hoping to change that here in the next few weeks.
It's Monday, the University Fall Semester kicked off this morning which resulted in heavy traffic this morning and a packed parking garage with students parking on staff floors (grrr!). I know I sound like a bitter old lady but honestly I'm glad they are back. They bring energy to the campus that just isn't the same during the summer. I loved having the break from them in the summer, though...don't think I didn't! I posted a picture on Instagram with my daily commute now congested with school traffic. With every new semester brings this ridiculous flood of traffic but I know in a few weeks it will die down a bit.
Friday evening I got to hang out with my family (again!) to celebrate my cousin Annaliese's 16th birthday! It scares me how fast time flies - I remember when she was just a baby!
She got her license the day before we celebrated (on her actual birthday) and got a perfect score!
Saturday & most of Sunday were spent in St. Louis. Russ' Dad plays in a band and they had a reunion show Saturday evening and it was a lot of fun! The show was in old St. Charles which is an adorable place with cute shops and restaurants that line a brick road along the river. There was an arts and crafts festival taking place there this weekend so the road was closed off so only pedestrians could walk through and Russ & I spent quite a bit of time wandering around, looking at booths and in stores. It was a lot of fun and an absolutely beautiful evening! After we grabbed some dinner we headed to the show and spent the rest of the evening enjoying the music! My inner old lady could hardly handle the 1:30AM bedtime, though! Ha!
It was a fun weekend, although I could have used an extra day or even just a few extra hours to recover. Oh well, I guess that's what the weekdays are for ;)
